Terms of Service

These terms are a starter template. Please review with your own counsel before relying on them.
1. Using Handscripted
You may use Handscripted to organize reminders and send handwritten cards to recipients you are authorized to contact. You agree not to use the service for unlawful, abusive, or deceptive purposes.
2. Your account
You are responsible for activity under your account. Keep your credentials secure. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms or that we reasonably believe are being used to harm recipients or the service.
3. Notifications & SMS
Reminders are opt-in. SMS reminders are entirely voluntary and are never required to create an account, sign in, purchase credits, send cards, or use any other Handscripted feature. You can use the full product without ever providing a phone number. SMS reminders are governed by our SMS Terms & Consent page. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP or by unchecking SMS reminders in Settings.
4. Acceptable content
Handscripted exists to help people send sincere, personal cards. You agree not to write, send, or attempt to deliver messages that contain:
- Slurs, hate speech, or harassment targeting any person or group.
- Threats of violence or content promoting harm to others.
- Sexually explicit content.
- Content promoting illegal activity or self-harm.
- Someone's private personal information shared without consent.
Messages may be reviewed by automated systems before they are sent. Messages that appear to violate this policy may be flagged for you to edit, or blocked from being sent. We may suspend accounts that repeatedly attempt to send violating content.
5. Payments, credits & refunds
Credits are sold through our payments provider. Unused credits are refundable within 14 days of the initial purchase, email support@handscripted.app to request a refund. Refunds for sent cards depend on where the card is in our pipeline:
- Scheduled, not yet sent. If a card is scheduled and hasn't left our system, you can cancel it from the Drafts page at any time. Credits are refunded automatically.
- At the printer, not yet printed. Physical mail orders are handed to our print & mail partner immediately. There is usually a short window before printing begins where you can request a cancellation from the Transactions page. If the partner confirms the order was cancelled in time, your 3 credits are refunded automatically.
- Printed, mailed, or delivered. Once a card has been printed or handed to the postal carrier, it can no longer be cancelled and credits are non-refundable. If a card never arrives (no delivery confirmation after 21 days) or there is a production issue, email support@handscripted.app and we'll review on a goodwill basis.
Virtual cards (shareable link, email, and downloadable video) are non-refundable once sent. Credits from a failed delivery (bounced email, partner-side failure) are refunded automatically.
6. Content ownership
You retain ownership of the messages you write. You grant us a limited license to process, transmit, print, and deliver them to the recipients you designate.
7. Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is.” We do not guarantee delivery dates, carrier behavior, or third-party performance. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
8. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
